1st Blood
1st Blood family are a collective of writers trying to push the scope of what can and cant be done in the well worn musical genre of Hip Hop. Producing music together for over 8 years , led to Signing with Tricky & Chris Blackwell’s Brownpunk label. It all looked set to work out as 1st Blood had hoped, but unforseen circumstances arose at the label and the album never got released. Brownpunk's recording contract has now elapsed, having failed to release 1st Blood's music, so they are now free to sign to another label. The situation did nothing but motivate 1st Blood to continue what they do best, which is make good music and lots of it. Chris Blackwell at Bluemountain remains supportive of the 1st Blood Cause.
Immensely catchy solid beats, imaginative synths, tight scratches, scathing social commentary combined with tongue in cheek sensibility, that oozes out the smooth bass heavy productions. Conjoured up by the 1st Blood production powerhouse, masterminded by Pete 1st Blood & Swen Kumarachi. With instantly memomarable wordplay from Pete 1st Blood and his two rapping cohorts Opticus Ryme, (part robot part man all writer) and Louis Cypher (a.k.a. Lucid the converter a.k.a Skinny Victor Draygo) the crews vicious rhyme spitter.
The 1st Blood sound is topped off with the amazing vocal talents of Nottingham born Liam Bailey a.k.a Bahinyon. Liam recently signed a Solo deal with Polydor, the 1st of the 1st Blood family to do so, each artist in 1st Blood is an artist in their own right, each producing their own style of music with their own twist and style. Liam has most recently been working in Miami with Hip Hop production icon Salaam Remi, producer for countless stars such as Amy Winehouse, Nas, Fugges, Cee-lo Green and Outkast's Big Boi.
1st Blood also collaborate with the amazing talents of legendary UK rapper Cappo, one of the most rated MCs in the UK, his own album “Spaz the world” released on Zebra Traffic led to extreme critical praise as did his work with Ninja Tune's Herbaliser, taking him worldwide. The sonic landscape is a varied affair, perfectly offset with the power of DJ Dan Rattomattic, 1st Blood's inhouse cutt king scratch master, lacing his own unique invigorating scratchwork.
1st Blood are also known for an explosive live performance, with an 11 deep crew all live on 1 stage, it really is something special when the tracks are transformed into a live set. 1st Blood fam can also be seen out and about at shows through out the UK and beyond as DJ/MC set Blood Cypher Ryme with DJ Dan Rattomatic and on occasion the man Bahinyon. Having already supported such acts as DJ Kentaro (World DMC Champion), Marcus Intalex, Ray Keith, Styly Cee, Cappo, Goldie, Rodney P & Skitz, Souls Of Mischief, 1st Blood have more than enough experience for putting on a stomping live showcase.
Brownpunk/Palm Pictures produced a feature film, to promote the label, 1st Bloods video for their single "Connecting People" featured. Published by Blue Mountain , the film starred Hollywood actor Elliot Gould along with Bob Marleys daughter Cedella Marley and Tricky himself. Pete 1st Blood also produced and edited the debut video for Notts Hip Hop legends Styly Cee and Cappo for their "Unwritten Rule" video from the "H-Bomb E.P". released on Son Records, highly praised it was rated the 2nd best single in Hip Hop Connection's 2008 yearly roundup.
